Poppy's War was bought for me (Mrs P. Gowen) for Christmas by my husband as he had read a review and realized it was just the sort of book I would read. I have just finished reading this excellent first novel by Lily Baxter. Poppy in the Field is the kind of story that you find yourself thinking about days after you finish reading it and the characters definitely stick with you. There is alwayswar somewhere in the world and this tale deals with the effects of those involved.Poppies were a nice touch. Overall, it was well-written, but some of the dialogue
